Chevrolet, General Motors' "bowtie" brand, sells an impressively wide range of vehicles, from subcompact hatchbacks to huge vans, trucks and SUVs. Founded by Louis Chevrolet and ousted GM founder William C. Durant in 1911, Chevrolet was acquired by GM in 1917. Chevrolet was positioned by Alfred Sloan to sell a lineup of mainstream vehicles to directly compete against Henry Ford's Model T in the 1920s. Chevrolet has sold some of the most recognizable cars in automotive history, and remains an integral part of American car culture.
