Started in 1910 by August Horch, Audi was bought by Volkswagen in 1964, and the two now share technological innovations developed in Audi's lab in Ingolstadt, Germany. Audi, which today makes luxury cars and SUVs, joined with three other auto manufacturers in 1932 to form Auto Union. Audi is the only surviving nameplate from that union.
