ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 13, 2010 – Ronald Hansen, COO/Partner of King Windward Nissan, a Nissan dealership in Kaneohe, Hawaii, was named the TIME Magazine Dealer of the Year from Hawaii.
Hansen was chosen to represent the Hawaii Automobile Dealers Association in the national competition. The award is sponsored by TIME Magazine in association with Goodyear, and in cooperation with NADA.
“I have devoted my entire life to this business,” says Hansen, “and I think the ability that our business offers to train and develop others through our employment is very satisfying. I like to see others that we have helped go on and be successful.”
Hansen graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland, OR, in 1963, and has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu.
Ronald Hansen began his career in the automobile industry in 1967 with Volkswagen Pacific in Honolulu. “I started as a manager trainee with Volkswagen's Hawaii distribution center,” explains Hansen, “and later was put in charge of bringing VWs in from Germany. At that time, our dealers had no used VWs available to sell. We then started a VW rental car company to generate used cars for our dealers and to provide inexpensive car rentals for our military.”
