NADA University Launches Dealership ‘All-Stars’ Program to Recognize Personnel Who Turn Ideas into Successful Practice

Candidates encouraged to tell their stories by video, either self-made or shot at NADA U booth during NADA/ATD convention

McLEAN, Va. (Jan. 31, 2012) – NADA University, the education and training arm of the National Automobile Dealers Association, has launched a new video series called “NADA U All-Stars” to recognize dealership personnel who have turned skills and ideas generated from NADA U programs into successful practice at their stores.

Dealership professionals with a success story to share may tell their stories by:

• Submitting a “60-Second Success Story” self-made video that describes the skill or idea and its connection to a NADA U training program, how it was implemented, whether there were any obstacles to overcome and how it turned out to be effective when put into practice. Sample videos and details on how to create a simple YouTube-style video and upload it, are available at www.NADAUAllStars.com, or

• Stopping by the NADA University booth in the main lobby of the Las Vegas Convention Center at the NADA/ATD Convention and Expo, starting this Friday, Feb. 3, through Monday, Feb. 6, where NADA staff will shoot the video on the spot.

“Every day, dealerships are putting creative ideas into successful practice based on what they learned from NADA U programs, and we want to pay special tribute to those individuals who are taking charge and leading those efforts,” said John Lyboldt, NADA vice president of dealership operations.

“We also hope this series will spark new ideas, even simple ones, that will help dealerships across the country grow their businesses,” Lyboldt added.

NADA U “All-Stars” already showcased on www.NADAUAllStars.com, include:

• Mary Catherine Curry, marketing director, Rice Toyota, in Greensboro, N.C., who took an idea she received from her NADA U training to implement a plan at her dealership to service the vehicles of employees at a local hospital.  As a result, her dealership has bolstered its image in the community, increased business in its service department and even generated higher vehicle sales. Curry also received the “best idea” award at the 2011 Driving Sales Executive Summit for this idea.

• Mark Lyon, general manager, Jay Honda, in Bedford, Ohio, who attributes an 871 percent growth rate in his dealership’s fixed ops department to growth strategies he learned from NADA U programs.

• April Ancira, vice president, Ancira Auto Group, San Antonio, Texas, who discovered how to cut expenses in her dealership’s service department by protecting customer data, resulting in savings of about $150,000 per year.

All participants in NADA U’s programs – Academy, 20 Group, Learning Hub and Resource Toolbox – are eligible to be NADA U “All-Stars” by sharing their success stories. NADA U is focusing on ideas implemented from its programs that, for example, improve efficiency or productivity, reduce costs, boost public image or result in other positive outcomes for the dealership.

NADA U is recognizing the “All-Stars” through a variety of high-visibility means, including video reports posted on its website and in outside media, news releases and advertisements.
