ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 13, 2010 – Jack Taylor, President of Alexandria Toyota, a Toyota and Scion dealership in Alexandria, Va., was named the TIME Magazine Dealer of the Year from Virginia.
Taylor was chosen to represent both the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association and the Washington Area New Automobile Dealers Association in the national competition. The award is sponsored by TIME Magazine in association with Goodyear, and in cooperation with NADA.
Taylor graduated from Fork Union (VA) Military Academy in 1965, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in History at Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC, in 1969. Taylor then served in the United States Army in the Military Police Corp from April 1970 to December 1971. He served in Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star for meritorious service and was Honorably Discharged. Upon his return from the Vietnam War, Taylor went to work for Bill Page Toyota in Falls Church, VA, in April 1972, starting in sales.
In October 1973, Taylor bought Hunter Motors with his partner Frank Page and changed its name to Alexandria Toyota. Eleven years later, Taylor bought out Page and became sole owner of the dealership he has led ever since; a dealership that’s earned the Toyota President’s Award every year since the honor was instituted in 1986.
